2. Help Reach the Forge Goal
Every reservation moves that audiobook closer to its 40-reservation Forge Goal.
3. Follow the Production
When the Forge Goal is reached, Brick Cave begins preparing the audiobook for production. Founding Listeners receive updates as the project moves forward.
4. Receive the Audiobook
When production is complete, Founding Listeners receive the finished audiobook they helped bring to life.

A Founding Listener is a reader who reserves an audiobook through the Foundry before that title enters production.
Founding Listeners demonstrate reader demand and directly help move the books they support toward audiobook production.
How much does a Founding Listener reservation cost?
Each Founding Listener reservation is $25.
What do I receive with my reservation?

What is a Forge Goal?
The Forge Goal is 40 Founding Listener reservations.
When an audiobook receives its 40th reservation, its Forge Goal is complete and Brick Cave begins preparing the audiobook for production.
What happens when an audiobook reaches its Forge Goal?
Brick Cave begins preparing the audiobook for production. Founding Listeners will receive updates as the project progresses through narration, production, editing, mastering, and release.
When will I receive my audiobook?
You will receive the audiobook after narration, editing, mastering, quality review, and release preparation are complete.
Production schedules vary based on narrator availability, book length, editing requirements, and other production considerations, so Founding Listener reservations do not have a guaranteed release date.
What happens if the audiobook has not reached its Forge Goal?
Your reservation remains active and continues to count toward the audiobook's Forge Goal.
There is no short crowdfunding deadline. Participating titles can continue building reader support over time.
Is Audiobook Foundry crowdfunding?
Not exactly. A Founding Listener reservation is a purchase toward a future audiobook, not a donation.
Rather than operating during a limited campaign period, the Foundry gives readers an ongoing way to demonstrate demand for the Brick Cave audiobooks they want produced.
When does my Sapphire Dragon membership begin?
Your Sapphire Dragon BC Book Club membership begins as part of your qualifying Foundry purchase. You do not need to wait for the audiobook to reach its Forge Goal or enter production.
What is Sapphire Dragon BC Book Club membership?
Sapphire Dragon is a BC Book Club membership level providing access to applicable Book Club benefits and community features.
Every $25 Foundry reservation includes one year of Sapphire Dragon membership, a $60 value.
What happens if I make multiple Foundry reservations?
The Sapphire Dragon membership benefit is cumulative.
- 1 Foundry reservation = 1 year of Sapphire Dragon membership
- 2 Foundry reservations = 2 years
- 5 Foundry reservations = 5 years
Each additional Foundry reservation earns another year of Sapphire Dragon membership.
Can I reserve more than one audiobook?
Yes. You can become a Founding Listener for as many participating audiobooks as you would like.
Each reservation counts toward that audiobook's individual Forge Goal and earns another year of Sapphire Dragon membership.
Can I cancel or refund my Founding Listener reservation?
Founding Listener reservations are non-cancellable and non-refundable once purchased.
Each reservation counts toward an audiobook's Forge Goal and may influence Brick Cave's production decisions and commitments.
Please choose the audiobook you wish to support carefully before completing your purchase.
What happens if Brick Cave decides not to produce an audiobook?
If Brick Cave determines that a reserved audiobook cannot reasonably be produced, affected Founding Listeners will be contacted and offered either a refund or the option to transfer their reservation to a different active Foundry title.
Brick Cave will not remove an active Foundry project without communicating with its Founding Listeners.
How will I receive the finished audiobook?
Founding Listeners will receive delivery instructions when the audiobook is ready.
Delivery may be provided through Brick Cave or an approved audiobook distribution or download service, depending on the distribution method selected for the finished audiobook.
Will the audiobook eventually be available to everyone?
Yes. Once completed, Foundry audiobooks are expected to become available through Brick Cave and participating audiobook retailers.
Founding Listeners receive the audiobook as part of their original reservation.
Can Founding Listeners help promote the audiobook they support?
Absolutely. Founding Listeners are encouraged to discuss the books they support, participate in Foundry discussions, share their Founding Listener badge, and invite other readers to join them.
Every new reservation moves the audiobook closer to its Forge Goal.

When Founding Listeners help a title reach its Forge Goal and the audiobook is completed, it becomes part of Forged in the Foundry.
