It have been some time since we updated the community on Brick Cave Projects.
Film Updates
For some time now we have worked to completed Call Me Creative, as principal filming was completed at the end of 2022. As we wrap the editing and pickup shots for for last few episodes, we are starting to look ahead at how best to distribute and market the series. Not quite sure what that will look like yet, but once the first season is "in the can", we can better plan.
As we look to wrap that project and move forward, we'll be able to start sharing more details from the production.
Audio Updates
With the exception of the work we have done in audio books, our audio efforts have been mostly stagnant. That will change a little in 2024, as we approach releasing at least one new project, The Klute Live at Gotham City. Originally recorded a number of years ago at a performance poet Bernard Schober, aka, The Klute gave at Gotham City Comics in Mesa, AZ, the audio recordings have been mixed for release. Originally, the album was a victim of the transition from CD to digital within Brick Cave and was stored in archive.
We'll continue work in 2024 on expanding our audio book catalog as well, looking to double the number of titles we have available by the end of 2024.
Print Updates
In 2023, we had an aggressive schedule for adding to our author roster. Here we are in November and that has not come to pass, which turned out to be a good thing as we had some process challenges that emerged that if we HAD tried to work a number of manuscripts, we would have been in a tight spot. So as it sits, 2023 will most likely be the first year in some time that we have not released a new manuscript. Most of the projects we have had on tap are now eyeballing release for the first three months of 2024, including:
Speaking of The Klute, his book Klutocrypha, will be re-released by Brick Cave in 2024. We had wrapped a series of edits before he passed away in 2022, and now we can finally re-release the book.
Profit & Loss, Bruce Davis. This novella from Bruce Davis is a deeper dive into Zack and his band of merry space misfits, a great bridge text for those looking for more from that world. This book is just awaiting cover art. (See GlowGems for Profit)
Futurewords II, Misc BC Authors. The second in the series of short story collections from Brick Cave, Futurewords II features Bruce Davis, J.A. Giunta, Sharon Skinner and Bob Nelson in a great collection of fiction stories. This book is just awaiting final layout. (See Futurewords)
Twelve Tomes: The Crumbling Kingdom, Bob Nelson. A whole new fantasy series launches with the action packed thrill ride. As we close on the end of the year, we'll start talking in more detail about this great new addition to the Brick Cave Library.
Those are the main titles that are close to publication, and there are a number of other titles Authors are throwing around that they are working on. New books from Bruce Davis for both the Profit Logs and Magic Law series, Sharon Skinner is working on a new book in the Collars and Curses universe. And, as always, there is sure to be some surprises out there as we move through 2024.
