Stefani and Robbie have grown closer since their first adventure in Anoria, but their friendship has become strained. Stefani is having troubling dreams—a voice is calling for help and asking her and Robbie to return to the magical world they thought they had left behind.
She has no idea why they need to return or what may await them if they can figure out how to get there. Robbie has troubles of his own as he struggles with his grandfather's increasingly strange behavior.
When they return, they discover that Anoria has become sick and is in need of healing. Laurel Silverbark, the last of the Treemages, has fallen into a deep slumber that only one person can rouse her from: the Awakener. But no one knows where the Awakener is—or even what form the Awakener has taken.
As Stefani and Robbie search for a way to heal the sickness draining the land, they discover that hope can be one of the greatest strengths and that even those who seem lost may still have something important to offer.
